On November 26, 2019, the completion ceremony of the whole sealing Mark III mock-up tank of LNG carrier, which is a special scientific research on membrane LNG carriers, and the certification award ceremony of GTT and classification societies was held by DSIC. The representatives of GTT, LR and CCS issued the certifications to the representatives of DSIC in the mock-up tank construction workshop. The DSIC chief engineer&deputy general manager Zheng Wei, the related project partners, the shipowners of CLNG and ENN Marine Service, the representatives of classification societies and the related department head of DSIC attended the ceremony.

After the special scientific research on membrane LNG carriers was approved by CSSC, DSIC carried out the technical research in an all-round way with related units at home and abroad. DSIC actively promoted the R & D of design and construction technology of LNG carrier, developed the world’s first whole sealing Mark III mock-up tank of LNG carriers successfully and achieved the certification of GTT, LR and CCS, which indicates that DSIC had made another important breakthrough in the field of design and construction of LNG carrier. Zheng Wei stated in his address that, with the strong support of CSSC, DSIC jointed the participating research units and cooperation units to work together to complete the construction of LNG mock-up tank and achieve the milestone of this project. During the project implementation, the technical experts of GTT and the specialists of LR and CCS provide comprehensive guidance on design technology, construction process and quality control. As pioneers in the development of key materials and components of Mark III cargo containment system in China, Jiangsu Yoke Technology Co., Ltd and Ningbo Kairong Ship Machinery provide the important supporting and engineering service guarantees. Jiangsu University of Science and Technology provides the comprehensive technical support in installation platform design and mock-up tank test research. The results we have achieved today are not only the results of domestic "industry-university-research" collaboration, but also the results of international cooperation.
