On March 11, 2019, DSIC held a signing and naming ceremony for 81# 308k DWT VLCC built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), where tripartite representatives of CMES, CSOC and DSIC signed on the ship delivery and acceptance protocols. DSIC leaders Yang Zhizhong, Deng Changlian attended the ceremony, and distinguished guest Madam Hu Wei named the carrier New Melody.
This series of VLCCs are a new-generation brand shiptype with strong market competitiveness developed independently by DSIC, an energy-saving and environment-friendly product of VLCC with anti-sediment function tailor made for CMES. The carrier registers CCS class, flies Hong Kong flag and complies with EU requirements in hazardous substance emission all with excellent performance indicators. SOMS installed on board, can achieve the functions of high-level data analysis, management and aided decision on modern ships.
During her construction, DSIC has substantially cut down construction periods for various items with thorough organization and elaborate planning to achieve floating out of dock 17 days ahead of annual plan. After launching, execute the medium on-water schedule planning to the letter so as to ensure the carrier to satisfy the state of sea trial in advance. During the sea trial, her period amounts to 97hours to create a record of the shortest sea trial in the same series of VLCCs, during which, all navigation inspection items and equipment acceptance tests have passed in one time and sailing integrity achieved a better level, received with high recognition of the clients.
